When I went to visit, I was completely amazed by the beauty.

This park is spread over a vast area and is almost perfect for those who love to see flowers. There are various types of flower species planted here. You will also find different gardens like Brahma Garden, Tea Garden, Japanese Garden, etc. This beautiful park, located in Newtown, has become a great tourist center for the people of Kolkata.

How to reach Eco Park Kolkata:

First option: You can easily reach Eco Park from Howrah or Sealdah Railway Station. Eco Park is situated in the New Town Rajarhat area, so you need to first reach New Town. Sometimes, you will find buses from Sealdah or Howrah that go directly to Eco Park. Otherwise, if you want to reach New Town or Biswas Bangla Gate quickly, you will find many autos there that can take you to Eco Park. This is the first option to reach Eco Park from Sealdah or Howrah. If you are arriving this way, you have to enter from Gate 1 of Eco Park.

Second option: First, you need to go to Bidhannagar Railway Station. Bidhannagar Railway Station is just one station away from Sealdah. If you are coming from Howrah, take a bus to Sealdah and then a train on the mainline to Bidhannagar. From there, you will find plenty of buses or autos that will take you directly to Eco Park in New Town. The bus fare from Bidhannagar to Eco Park is 20 rupees, and if you prefer an auto, the fare is 40 rupees per person.

If you are arriving this way, you also have to enter from Gate no 1.

Third option: If you go to Eco Tourism Park from the airport, you will find many buses or taxis near the airport that can take you to Eco Park. The bus fare from the airport to Eco Park is 20 rupees, and if you prefer a taxi, the fare will be around 300 rupees. I went to Eco Park from the airport side and returned to the airport via Bidhannagar.

If you are entering Eco Park from the airport side, you will enter through Gate no 4.

How was Eco Tourism Park Kolkata created?

In 2011, when Mrs. Mamata Banerjee became the Chief Minister of Kolkata and the entire West Bengal, she gave the idea of creating an eco-tourism park near New Town in Kolkata. The responsibility for the construction and design of this park was given to the West Bengal Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation.

 

WBHIDC started this work in 2012 on the orders of Mrs. Mamata Banerjee, and the design and construction of this park were completed by the end of 2013. The park was opened for visitors in 2013. This park has three main attractions: the Open Garden, the Eco Zone, and the Theme Garden. Over time, many other attractions have been added.

For example, when I visited Eco Park in 2014, there was no Theme Garden. Then, when I visited Eco Park in 2019, I was completely surprised to see that the seventh wonder installations had been added to the Theme Garden. These include the Statue of Liberty, the Giza Pyramids, and other great historical monuments.

Gardens at Eco Park Kolkata:

Eco Tourism Park Kolkata has many attractions, such as various beautiful gardens, a rose garden with different species of flowers, a butterfly garden, a tea garden, and seven wonders. To enjoy the beauty of this place, you have to come here in the morning and stay till night. Even then, you may not be able to fully enjoy the beauty of this place because there are so many great things to see here, which cannot be visited in one day.

Butterfly Garden at Eco Park Kolkata:
After entering Eco Park from Gate No. 1 and going to the right, you can see the Butterfly Garden. The great thing about this place is that you can see different types of butterflies flying around happily on every flower and tree here. You can also see different rare species of butterflies that you might have never seen before.

Tea Garden at Eco Park Kolkata:
To enter the tea garden, you have to enter from Gate No. 1. In fact, for most of the gardens in Eco Park, you have to enter from Gate No. 1. In this tea garden, you can see a lot of tea gardens. Tea gardens are not usually found outside hilly areas, but a tea garden has been specially developed here.

Bamboo Garden at Eco Park Kolkata:
Next to the Tea Garden is the Bamboo Garden, where various species of bamboo trees are planted, from small to large.

Mask Garden at Eco Park Kolkata:

When we entered Eco Park, we saw a toy train going around the park. It was very interesting to see. Then we did this toy train ride, and we had a lot of fun. MTB Cycling at Eco Park Kolkata:

Two people can ride together on this special type of bicycle and travel the entire park. You have to pay 150 rupees per person to travel on this bicycle.

Half of Eco Park has a large pond that hosts many water activities, one of which is Water Zorb. You have to pay 150 rupees to do this activity, and you can do it with two to three people at a time.

Water Roller at Eco Park Kolkata:
Water Roller is a great water activity where you have to sit in a big balloon, and it will roll in the water. To do this, you need to spend 150 rupees per person for 10 minutes, and it can be done by two to three people together.

Land Zorb:
You can do Land Zorb on land like Water Zorb in water. You will be in a big balloon, and you have to walk in it. You can go up to 200 meters, and it will cost you 150 rupees per head. Up to three people can do it.

Sub Junior Cycling at Eco Park Kolkata:
If you have a 10- to 15-year-old child with you, you can try sub-junior cycling, a 30-minute cycle ride that costs around 70 rupees per head.

Baby Cycling at Eco Park Kolkata:

Alipur Zoo:
Around 10 to 20 km from Eco Park, you will find many places to visit, one of them being Alipur Zoo, which has a variety of different species of animals and birds. If you have time, you can visit this second-largest zoo in India.
Mother’s Wax Museum:
Mother’s Wax Museum is located just opposite Eco Park. Here, you can find idols of highly talented individuals from India, such as cricketers, freedom fighters, and Bollywood celebrities. You can take selfies with all the idols and capture pictures of them.
