Gaurikund is approximately 200 kilometers away from Haridwar, and it takes around 7-8 hours to reach by road. Also you can go from Haridwar to sonprayag, I mean you can go from Haridwar to Kedarnath via different places instead of directly. As from Haridwar you first went to Rishikesh and from there you went to Devprayag one. And from Devprayag you went to Rudraprayag and from there to Shonprayag. Haridwar to kedarnath Distance by Bus:
We planned to go to Kedarnath from Kolkata so we first had to go to Haridwar , we started our journey from Howrah, Kolkata by Dun Express and we reached Haridwar around 7 am, The railway station is like a beautiful temple. On reaching Haridwar we first came out of the station and saw many small travel agencies, one of them we chose and booked a bus from there to Kedarnath. Our bus was from in front of Haridwar railway station, the next day at 3:30 am and it was supposed to reach Son Prayag around 2 pm after 10 hours long journey.

And then we left to visit Haridwar, It is very beautiful and holy place. there are many places to visit in Haridwar, Like Mansa Devi Temple, Chandi Devi Temple and many more, Har ki Pauri Ghat is very beautiful. Haridwar to kedarnath Bus journey:
We booked our bus a day in advance when we reached Haridwar early in the morning. At 2:30 AM we all got ready and left the hotel and went to the bus stand, we waiting for the bus arrive. and many people like me were standing there waiting for the bus. Some had tickets and some didn’t.
Then I realized one thing that for Haridwar to Kedarnath you don’t need to book bus in advance even if you don’t have ticket in advance you can come in morning and buy direct ticket from bus conductor and it will cost you less.
Because we booked the bus from Haridwar to Kedarnath for 800 rupees but those who were waiting there without any ticket directly spoke to the conductor and booked the bus for only 600 rupees. But there was a problem in their case, they got the back seat. Because all those who booked in advance booked the earliest seats. We booked in advance so our seats were towards the front.

Amezing journey From Haridwar to Kedarnath:
Two hours after the start of the bus, when the sun began to shine, I found myself passing through the middle of the mountains in a most magnificent scene. It was scary because the mountains were collapsing in the middle, and there was news of a big land slide the day before we started our journey.
After about 5 hours the bus stopped at a place called devprayag the place is very beautiful and there is a confluence of two rivers there we got down and had tea biscuits and food too. Devprayag will be the first destination for those of you who will travel from Haridwar to Kedarnath, many people go to Devprayag first from Haridwar and from there leave for Shonprayag. But it is better to go directly.
After another four hours of bus travel, we reach Rudraprayag. Here also the confluence of three rivers, the place is very beautiful and surrounded by mountains. You will surely know a lot about Rudrapraya this place has a lot of history. And it is one of the five prags of Uttarakhand. After resting here for about an hour, our bus left for our destination. After about three to four hours, we reached Sonprayog at around 4 o’clock.

Haridwar to Kedarnath Distance by Taxi:
There are many taxis plying from Haridwar to sonprayag and you can book them right in front of Haridwar station but the taxi fares are a bit higher than buses but the journey is very comfortable. If you take a taxi, the taxi fare is around 1000 rupees per person.

And the taxi will take around 10 to 12 hours to reach, the little advantage of taking a taxi is that you can better appreciate the incredible scenic views of Kedarnath from Haridwar. And your journey will be very comfortable as compared to bus. Taxi will also halt you first at Debprayag and second at Rudraprayag.
